STEPHEN MINISTRY CORNER

Stephen Ministry Corner

STEPHEN MINISTRY – NOT JUST FOR CONGREGATIONS

While the Stephen Ministry program was originally designed with congregations in mind, organizations have adapted Stephen Ministry to provide care in their settings – with great success!  Enrolled organizations include:

Hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, retirement communities, hospices, prison ministries, counseling centers, women’s shelters, truck stop ministries, universities, seminaries, diaconate programs, military chapels

Usually Stephen Ministers meet with care receivers for about one hour a week, but the Stephen Series is flexible and can be adapted to meet an organization’s needs.  But even these unique situations allow for the Stephen Ministers to meet in small groups for supervision to discuss their work while, at the same time, maintaining confidentiality of the care receiver.

If you or someone you love needs a Stephen Minister, please contact Jack Harris, ROCC Stephen Minister Leader.

Powerful Men’s Retreat Opportunity!

Questions:  grainWhat happens when a group of men get away for a weekend spent renewing and strengthening their faith?  What happens when a group of men take a weekend away to prioritize and grow in their discipleship with Christ?

Answers:  Amazing things!  Men are renewed and strengthened for life’s journey.  Men discover new brothers in Christ, many times forming lasting and deep friendships as they worship, learn, laugh, and eat together.

Don’t miss this rare opportunity!  The retreat is Oct 8-11.

Register now; spots are limited!

Many of your brothers in Christ have experienced one of these retreats, which areEmmaus Logo typically three days long (Thursday evening through Sunday afternoon), and then gone on to experience the amazing work of the Holy Spirit in their lives as a result.  Like a tiny mustard seed (pictured above), three days isn’t much time compared to an entire lifetime, but what a difference those seeds of strength can make when planted deep in your life!

This retreat is called the Walk to Emmaus.  Some of your brothers in Christ who have experienced this retreat include Jack Harris, Charly Harpole, Al Adams, Ed Brown, Tom Jones, Robert Jones, Pastor Fred Lauten, Greg Wilchek, Edward Espinosa, Allan Fox, and Bill LaRoque.  Feel free to ask them about it!

Registration forms are available from Rev. Al.  Deadline to register is Friday, Sept. 18.
